my boyfriend found out he has herpes simplex 1 and now refuses to hug me or hold my hand because he's afraid of giving it to me and i know this isn't exactly the blog to ask but it's still herpes and i just i really want to know if it's honestly worth worrying about....i really don't want to never ever hug or hold his hand again, i can do with not kissing him but i just i really need to know if i can at least hug and hold his hand please and thank you /:
This is the perfect blog to ask and I’m happy you did - I understand your partner is concerned but they don’t need to take it that far! HSV is not an airborne, infectious disease that people can contract by simply breathing :). You can absolutely, 100% hug, hold hands, cuddle, snuggle, spoon and spork to your hearts content! The only way your partner can really transmit the virus to you is by kissing you or performing oral sex during an outbreak. Other than that, your physical affections are nothing to be worried about.
